Chris Petre-Baumer has proven himself to be an exceedingly versatile arts administrator. He has held several administrative roles with arts organizations in Boston, including the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Juventas New Music Ensemble.  

In his current role as Membership Associate at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Chris coordinates all departmental operations, ranging from event planning, to creating email communications, to cultivating member relationships.

Prior to becoming the organization’s Graphic Designer, Chris was the Director of Development for the Juventas New Music Ensemble. Here he managed the fundraising strategy, produced fundraising events, and created fundraising appeal campaigns.

Chris holds a Master of Science degree in Arts Administration from Boston University. His specialties in the field include fundraising and membership, graphic design, event planning, and educational programming.


A self-taught graphic designer and calligrapher, Chris has been designing for arts organizations for several years.

As Graphic Designer for the Juventas New Music Ensemble, Chris creates all printed and digital collateral and communication pieces, along with maintaining visual brand integrity. He also works on a freelance basis with other arts organizations in the Boston area to provide logo, branding, and collateral services. For recent examples of his design work, please click here.

Chris’ experience in the classroom ranges from instrumental to choral ensembles, from urban settings to rural, and from Alabama to Massachusetts.

As Choral Teaching Artist with the Community Music Center of Boston, Chris was the lead choral educator for an underserved elementary school in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood. Here he taught 4th and 5th grade choir and served as a teacher mentor.

At the Boston Flute Academy, Chris served in many teaching capacities: teaching an adult flute ensemble, assisting a semi-professional flute ensemble, and serving as Teaching Assistant to BFA Director Judy Grant.

Chris also currently teaches a Beverly, MA based studio of flutists and vocalists, serving the metro Boston and North Shore areas. For more information about joining this vibrant studio, please click here.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Troy University. An active vocalist and flutist, Chris studied voice with Aaron Sheehan and Margaret Jackson and flute with Carol Franks, Kathy Farmer, and Katherine Evans. He currently serves as the Alto Section Leader at Ascension Memorial Church in Ipswich.
